About an hour from Barcelona, Montserrat and its saw-toothed peaks offer one of Catalonia’s most striking landscapes. The Benedictine monastery set into the mountain has been an important place of pilgrimage for centuries.
We tell the story of the monastery and of La Moreneta, the Black Madonna regarded as Catalonia’s patron, then take a short walk on a scenic trail. If you like, we can also plan a tasting stop at a local winery on the way back.

Itinerary
Departure from Barcelona
We set off for Montserrat by train or private vehicle, talking about the region’s history on the way.
Up the mountain
We ride the rack railway or cable car up to the monastery and enjoy the view.
Monastery and basilica
We visit the basilica and learn about La Moreneta and monastic life. If the schedule allows, you may also hear the Escolania choir.
Nature walk
We walk a scenic trail at a pace that suits the group.
Return and optional wine stop
We head back to Barcelona, with an optional stop at a winery on the way.
